Although originally from Ireland, the pharmacist Shirley Tyler studied for a pharmacy degree at Manchester University followed by a year of training split between hospital and community pharmacy in Belfast, leading to the qualification of Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. She then returned to Manchester, working eventually as a locum in Salford until becoming the owner of Clarendon Pharmacy, which was established in 1984 and has been serving the local community, delivering high quality health care since then.
Shirley has always had an interest in IT and because of this all the latest technological advances are used to the full at Clarendon Pharmacy. For example, Clarendon Pharmacy became registered for transmission of electronic prescriptions at the start of December 2006, making us one of the first few pharmacies in the Salford area to have this service. At present, you still have your green prescription form and we are able to scan the barcode giving a fast and more accurate way to dispense your medicines. Eventually, your prescription will be able to be sent electronically, at your request, directly from your doctor’s surgery to Clarendon Pharmacy. You will have to register via this site or by pre-printed forms to give your permission for this service.
We also have extra computer terminals linked to our main system and this can be used by the pharmacist in the consultation room when meeting with a patient when carrying out a Medicines Use Review, to check on current medication and update any medical information.
Our repeat prescription ordering system is also fully computerised, so that we can keep track of when the prescription was ordered, when it was collected form surgery and if there were any problems (such as medication being disallowed by doctor), in which case will try to contact you to let you know.
If you come into the pharmacy with a regular or an acute prescription, and you wish to have any further information on your illness or your medication, we will be only to happy to print a relevant free information sheet while you wait. Alternatively, for people with Internet connections, you may simply log on to this website for all the help you could need in one place and easy to understand explanations of common illnesses.
At Clarendon Pharmacy we have regular friendly, helpful staff and you can be assured of an excellent level of service. Our premises have been fully refurbished to present a bright, modern look and we have a section allocated to health information to keep you informed of all the current health campaigns. Our consultation room is available for any private health matter that you wish to discuss and naturally it is also used for our wide range of health services and the Lipotrim weight management programme.
