Prescription Services

During our opening hours we will be able to provide a dispensing service for your NHS prescription, whether it is from your Doctor, Dentist or Prescribing Nurse. In addition we dispense private prescriptions. Also, we are now able to offer free printed information on common illnesses, to all our customers.

We have a fully computerised patient medication records system, which stores all your medication records and alerts the pharmacist to possible drug interactions. Naturally, information held about patients is confidential and covered by the Data Protection Act.

In the unlikely event that we do not have a particular drug in stock, usually we will obtain it for you the same day. If it is an urgent medication which we do not have in stock, we will even arrange a special delivery from our local wholesaler usually within two hours.

NEW! We are now able to receive your prescription details electronically straight from your doctors surgery, by scanning the barcode along the side. Don't worry, you will still have the green prescription form but this is a fast and more accurate way for us to produce your prescription.

Repeat Prescription Service

Make life easier for yourself and let us order your prescription on your behalf. Simply let us know what repeat medicines you need, a few days before they run out, either in person, by phone, fax or email and we will arrange to collect it from your Doctor's surgery. We go daily to all the Doctors surgeries in Salford 5, 6 and 7 postcode areas. When we have collected your prescription it will be dispensed and waiting for you to collect at the pharmacy. We also provide a free local home delivery service for customers who are housebound or live in warden-controlled accommodation.

Lipotrim Weight Reduction Programme

This is a professional maximum weight loss programme which is provided only by pharmacies. The average weight loss is ONE STONE per month.

Initially, you are supplied with a short video/dvd to take home and watch at your leisure, which explains how the diet works and how to keep the weight off when you have lost it. You will also have medical assessment by the pharmacist and providing there are no health issues, you will be able to proceed with the diet.

Whilst on the diet, you need to come weekly to the pharmacy to be weighed and to collect your next weeks supply of LIPOTRIM diet. Your weekly visit can be at any time to suit you during our opening hours. You may also phone at any time if you need any advice or encouragement.

***Smoking Cessation***

July 1st 2007 marks the beginning of the smoking ban in all workplaces which means that smoking will be banned in all pubs, bars and restaurants etc. We all know smoking is very harmful to our health but giving up can be hard. Take advantage of the ban and use it as a spur to quit. The Pharmacist is an Accredited Smoking Advisor and can give you counselling about stopping smoking. We can also issue NHS vouchers which enable you to obtain anti-smoking products from the pharmacy such as nicotine replacement patches, gum and nasal sprays. People who pay for prescriptions pay the NHS charge for the voucher. If you are exempt from prescription fees you do not need to pay.

DOSETTES - We can provide medication in weekly dosettes, these are modern sealed units, hygenic and disposable.

PREGNANCY TESTS - Professional pregnancy testing for a small fee, result in 10 minutes.

EMERCENCY CONTRACEPTION - We can supply the 'morning after' pill for women who have had unprotected sex. No appointment needed.

HEALTH INFORMATION - a range of leaflets and booklets are always available.

HEAD LICE SCHEME - if you have a child infected with head lice we can provide free lotions.

NEBULISER THERAPY - We have portable nebulisers for sale at an economical price. Also parts such as tubing and masks.

BLOOD PRESSURE/SUGAR CHECKS -For a small fee, you can have your blood pressure and/or sugar level checked.

EAR PIERCING - The pharmacy premises have been registered for this service since 1986. Sterile, 24 carat gold-plated studs are used.

DISPOSAL OF MEDICINES - Simply bring your unwanted medicines into the pharmacy and we will send them away to be incinerated.
